Happy Birthday to me. I discovered cups on my 50th birthday. If they've been around for 70+ years, where have they been hiding for the past 35+ years I've wished for alternatives to tampons??? I rushed right out and bought a Large Diva.
Large Diva
Sunday: Noon to dinner time. No need for the large Diva yet but I wanted to see how it would be on the bike cos we went down to the range to check on the boys. Fine. No problems sitting, straddling, riding, swinging my leg over the seat repeatedly or walking and bending for cone after cone after cone. No problems going pee with it in either. Because it's designed to "ride low," I could feel it if I thought about it, kinda like a poorly positioned tampon. Not unpleasant or uncomfortable. Didn't take long to get past having to convince myself that it was "supposed" to be there. The sensation became somewhat reassuring that it was in the right place. About 6-7 hours later, barely half a teaspoon -- threatening "I'm going to ruin your panties" stage. Surprisingly "not icky." Not messy. Removed in favor of a panty liner.
Sunday night: 10:30pm - 5:30am Didn't need it but tried it out anyway. Comfortable.
Monday: Teaching at the range.
5:30am - about 9am. Started to need it -- still very light. Dribbled a little because I put it in wet (freshly washed, not dried) and that wetness with whatever it picked up along the way slobbered out.
About 9am, I realized that it didn't feel right. Felt like it had shifted way back out of position and I'm guessing that it suctioned itself against the back wall instead of staying low and open to catch. Had leaked a little, good thing I had a panty liner on. About 1/3 full? I probably could have just dumped and reinserted, but I removed it in favor of a tampon. I didn't trust it and didn't want to have to mess with it again. I want to blame the fact that it was wet and slippery when I put it in and that the undersized "anti-suction" holes locked the cup in place against the back wall where it didn't belong. Or maybe I just put it in too deep in the first place.
Got home about 2pm and popped it back in about 3pm. Not as active at home and didn't shift. Did its job without leaking. Can pee with it, no problem. Haven't pooped with it yet.
7:30 - barely half a teaspoon and no leaks.
10:30pm - sat and watched a movie for all evening, got up and it leaked.
Monday night:
10:30 to 7:30am - tampon.
Tuesday:
7:30 to 8am - LEAKED quite a bit. Too high? Possibly. Re-adjusted lower.
12:15 - leaked a little but about 1/3 full. A semblance of success.
2:30 - no leaks, went pee, left it alone. Reading online. Many complain about "Migration" = slipping down as if it's going to fall out. But mine travels inward. Could mine be too big? (Cos I've always been proud of being "tight.")
3:30 - it just didn't feel right so I took it out and tried again. No leaks but very little in it. I'm starting to think the SMALL Lunette might be the one for me cos the larges (Lunette and Diva) are both 46mm wide and I feel "full" down there. Is that what "too big" feels like? The small Lunette is much shorter and narrower but still has "more capacity" than the US/UK Moons. Damn, I wish they weren't so expensive. One of the sites says it takes 3 cycles to get the hang of cups. I don't have that luxury. I need it to work first time, every time.
4:15 - It feels like it moved up too high again but didn't do anything until...
7:30 - Didn't leak. Very little in it. Does it only work when my flow is light? Does it only work if I'm not active?
9pm - Starting to feel irritated down there. Removed in favor of just a panty liner.
Tuesday night: tampon
Wednesday:
panty liner then out to rake leaves with it in. Leaked = my fault. Not in right. Fixed it. Fine for about an hour, then it slipped and leaked again. Frustrated. Tampon. More clear liquid than red.
